Sports department organises awareness rally under poshan abhiyan
Ludhiana, September 11, 2019: With an aim to eliminate anaemia, malnutrition and other health related problems amongst mothers, children and girls, September month is being celebrated as “Rashtriya Poshan Maah”. During this month, people would be made aware about these problems by different mediums in all blocks of district Ludhiana. The District Administration and office of District Sports Officer Ludhiana today organised an awareness rally in this regard, which was attended by more than 400 sportspersons from different coaching centres of different sports. While speaking on the occasion, District Sports Officer Ravinder Singh educated the sportspersons about benefits of consuming nutritious food that not only helps them in sports, but also in staying fit. During the awareness rally, Navdeep Jindal judo coach, Arunjit Kaur hockey coach, Prem Singh gymnastics coach, Parveen Thakur judo coach, Kuldeep Chugh lawn tennis coach, Sanjeev Sharma athletics coach, Saloni basketball coach, Nirmaljit Kaur softball coach were also present. Ravinder Singh informed that during the month of September, women would be made aware about how to take care of their newly born children for first 1000 days, save themselves from anaemia, diarrhoea, nutritious food, right way of washing hand, and maintaining clean surroundings etc. It is pertinent to mention that meetings would be held with mothers, weight of children would be recorded, seminars/workshops regarding nutritious food would be organised, Poshan Mela’s would be organised, cycle rally, poshan walk, gram sabha, healthy recipe competitions, Prabhat pheri’s, hut bazaar, visit to houses, Naari Ki Chaupal, distribution of ORS packets, Jaago, different competitions of students, meetings with panchayats, workshops to make people aware about right way to wash hands etc. The Social Security, Women and Child Development Department, Skill Development Department, Rural Development and Panchayat Department, Local Government Department, Youth Services Department, Education Department, Agriculture Department, Health and Family Welfare Department, Water Supply and Sanitation Department and Information & Public Relations Department is actively contributing in this campaign. He said this while inaugurating an awareness camp related to Poshan Maah in ward number 25, here today.
