Chandigarh, July 15, 2025: At just 15, Chandigarh tennis player Ribhav Saroha has etched his name in Indian tennis history by attaining the All India No. 1 rank in the U-16 category. What makes this feat truly remarkable is that Ribhav is the first player born and trained entirely in Chandigarh to reach this national summit.
Ribhav is fast becoming a name to watch on the Indian tennis scene. The young talent from Chandigarh is currently training under the expert guidance of Marco Seruca, a dedicated and experienced coach at MS Star Tennis Academy, where Ribhav spends nearly five hours a day honing his skills. Marco Seruca, is a former Portuguese Davis Cup player, and brings decades of international coaching experience. An ITF-certified mentor, he has played a pivotal role in Ribhav’s extraordinary journey to the top.
“Some days, I split my training into three hours in the morning and two in the evening,” says Ribhav. “Other times, it’s a solid five-hour session — it depends on the schedule Marco sir chalks out.”
The commitment is intense, but so is the mentorship. Marco, who has been working with Ribhav for several years now, leaves no aspect untouched — from technical finesse and physical conditioning, to mental strength and tournament planning.
“He’s the kid who’s been with us the longest,” Marco shares. “And he has tremendous potential. With continued hard work and the right opportunities, I genuinely believe Ribhav can emerge as one of the best players from India.”
The admiration is mutual. Ribhav, calm and grounded despite his steady rise, says, “I’m really happy that I found Marco sir. My training schedule is based on the European pattern of tennis and I’ve seen a lot of progress under this unique model. I’m hoping to continue this form and make a strong transition into the men’s circuit soon.”
Behind every determined athlete are parents who stand as pillars of support. Nagender Saroha and Dr. Saroj Saroha, Ribhav’s parents, are deeply involved in their son’s journey — emotionally, logistically, and otherwise.
“We’ve seen how passionately he trains every single day,” says Mr. Saroha. “He’s found the right ecosystem at MS Star.”
Dr. Saroj adds, “It’s heartening to watch his progress. We’re proud, but we know this is just the beginning.”
The road ahead is packed with action. Ribhav is gearing up for four upcoming ITF Junior tournaments, with his eyes set on climbing the international ranks.
One thing’s clear — with his work ethic, support system, and coaching team, Ribhav Saroha is on track to serve up something special for Indian tennis.
"I not only credit Marco sir for shaping my game but also my character," wraps up Ribhav, Chandigarh's young tennis prodigy in the making.
