Sponsor vaccine for needy people on birthdays or anniversaries as real Sewa to prevent third wave

Ludhiana: Making an emotive appeal to the people of Ludhiana to come and support the needy people by protecting them against Covid-19, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma on Wednesday exhorted the people to gift them with vaccine on birthdays and anniversaries which would be service to the humanity. 

Speaking to the Ludhianavis in his weekly Facebook Live session on DPRO Ludhiana official page, Deputy Commissioner said that the need of hour is to get vaccinated at the earliest to avoid anticipated third wave. 

He said that this would be real and unforgettable service to the humanity by sponsoring vaccine for the needy entitled people as vaccine would save their lives from the contagion. 

He added that the government has not been receiving sufficient supply of vaccine for 
entitled category of 18-44 age bracket. 

Deputy Commissioner said that private hospitals had procured 1.25 lakh vaccine on May 28 and only 2000 had got vaccinated which was not a good number. 

Sharma said that private hospitals charge a fee for the vaccine which is below than the rate of a movie tickets or a pizza party or restaurant outing.

He asked philanthropists, social organizations, NGOs and others to help the entitled people in getting the vaccine by sponsoring at these hospitals on the birthdays, anniversaries or other occasion. 

Deputy Commissioner said that people need vaccine right now not concentrators, masks, sanitizers, oxygen cylinders as situation is now getting normal. 

He added that aggressive vaccination of maximum people will ensure building herd immunity and will prevent this wave. He also assured the gym operators to take up their issue of reopening with the senior authorities on priority basis.
