Spices Board Chairperson Meets Piyush Goyal; Flags Key Sectoral Priorities
Adv. Sangeetha Viswanathan, Chairperson of the Spices Board India, met Piyush Goyal, Union Minister for Commerce & Industry, and raised key administrative and sectoral issues that need immediate attention to support the spices industry’s export competitiveness.
New Delhi, November 28, 2025: Adv. Sangeetha Viswanathan, Chairperson of the Spices Board India, met Piyush Goyal, Union Minister for Commerce & Industry, and raised key administrative and sectoral issues that need immediate attention to support the spices industry’s export competitiveness.
She proposed setting up Spice Market and Compliance Hubs across major metros and producing clusters to streamline quality testing, documentation, banking support and digital filings.
The spice industry requests for inclusion of the sector under the Export Promotion Mission, continued government backing in the Oleoresin Paprika matter, and dedicated funding under the SPICED scheme were also discussed. The Chairperson emphasised the need for accredited labs in major production hubs to strengthen quality assurance.
