Rohtak, February 23, 2026: Eighteen students from various departments participated in the speech competition organized by the English Department of MDU to commemorate International Mother Language Day. The participants impressed the jury with their eloquence and powerful presentation of their ideas.

Mandeep, a student of the Economics Department, won first place, Apurva second, and Nidhi and Preeti came third. Hina and Kajal received consolation prizes.

The jury comprised Professor Sunit Mukherjee of the Journalism Department, Dr. Kiran Sharma of the Government Women's College, and Dr. Ankita Beniwal of the Government College. The judges evaluated the participants based on the subject matter, language style, presentation skills, and self-confidence.

Sunit Mukherjee shared important tips for effective communication with students. Dr. Kiran Sharma informed students about the importance of their mother tongue. Dr. Ankita encouraged students to actively participate in literary and intellectual activities.

Department Head Prof. Gulab Singh described such competitions as a powerful tool for developing self-confidence and communication skills in students. Competition coordinator Prof. Neelam Hooda delivered the welcome address and outlined the program.
