Ludhiana, September 12, 2026: Under the 'Jivanjot Project' and with the aim of ensuring the safety, welfare, and protection of children's rights, a special rescue drive was conducted on September 12, 2026, across various areas of Ludhiana city, following the directives of S. Gurmeet Singh, District Programme Officer, Ludhiana.
The drive covered several sensitive locations, including the Ludhiana Railway Station, Mata Rani Chowk, Durga Mata Chowk, Dandi Swami Road, and Pavilion Chowk. As a result of the team's efforts during the operation, a total of four children were rescued. Subsequently, these children will be presented before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Ludhiana, and further action will be taken in accordance with the provisions of the Juvenile Justice (JJ Act). This special raid campaign was led by Rashmi, District Child Protection Officer, Ludhiana, with the participation of Sandeep Singh, Manjot Singh, Kirandeep Kaur, Jyoti, Kamaljit Kaur, and Sharad Sood. Additionally, Sandeep Singh from the Child Helpline team and Bhupinder Singh (DCPO staff) took part in the campaign. The police administration also extended its cooperation during this operation.
With a focus on the safety, welfare, and rehabilitation of the rescued children, further necessary action regarding them is being taken in accordance with established legal norms, protocols, and child protection guidelines.
The primary objective of the Jeevanjot Project is to provide children with a safe and supportive environment, protect their rights, and ensure the timely provision of assistance, protection, and necessary services to children in need. Prioritizing the safety and welfare of children, the department and the Ludhiana district administration expressed their commitment to continuing such raids and awareness campaigns in the future.
