Jalandhar, January 23, 2019: The Punjab Centre for Migration Studies of Lyallpur Khalsa College organized a special literary rendezvous featuring eminent overseas Punjabi Poet Dalvir Singh Nijjar (Dil Nijjar) from Sacramento, California, USA. College Principal Dr.Gurpinder Singh Samra welcomed the dignitary along with Dr.Gopal Singh Buttar, Head, PG Department of Punjabi and Dr.Surinderpal Mand, Coordinator, Punjab Centre for Migration Studies with a bouquet of flowers. On this occasion, Dr.Surinderpal Mand introduced the proceedings of the program and also informed about the activities of the centre. In his address, Principal Dr.Gurpinder Singh Samra expressed his pride on the tremendous success and fame earned by the college students all around the world. Dr. Gopal Singh Buttar, Head, PG Department of Punjabi informed the audience about the literary outputs of Mr.Dalvir Singh Nijjar with special regards to his service to the language of Punjabi. He also appreciated the immense contributions of overseas literary figures such as Dalvir Singh Nijjar. Addressing the audience, Mr.Dalvir Singh Nijjar recalled his student life experience with Lyallpur Khalsa College and credited the beginning of his poetic journey to the learning acquired in the same institution whilst also serving as a faculty member later on. He also discussed his life in USA since 1991 and his four major literary publications during the same period. An active question answer discourse session involving the students of the department was also conducted on this occasion. Present on the occasion included, Prof. Harjinder Singh Sekhon, Prof. Sukhdev Singh Nagra, Prof. Gulzar Singh, Prof. Gurjeet Kaur, Prof. Sukhwinder Singh, Prof. Sukhraj Kaur, Prof. Arinder Singh and Prof. Gurpreet Singh.
