Special lecture under ICPR sponsored study circle-elenchus

Chandigarh: Indian Council of Philosophical Research(ICPR), New Delhi has shortlisted Department of Philosophy, Panjab University, Chandigarh under the Chairmanship of Dr. Shivani Sharma, Chairperson, to set up a Study Circle-‘ELENCHUS’. The purpose of the ELENCHUS is to organize talks and lectures on monthly basis on philosophical issues. The Chairperson informed that academicians shall be invited across the globe for Skype lectures and also scholars from different academic institutions shall be invited for one to one interaction, under the program.
The first lecture through Skype under the sanctioned program by ICPR was delivered by Prof. Florian Cova, Department of Philosophy, University of Geneva, Switzerland on ‘Experimental Philosophy of Aesthetics. Prof. Cova reflected on the notion of Experimental Philosophy and discussed the methodology this discipline adopts. He also elaborated on the Nature of ‘Intuitions’ philosophers deal with. He explained the nature of Aesthetic judgments and how subjectivity formulates the core of Aesthetic claims despite being universal in their nature. The session was deliberated by the faculty, research scholars and students attended the programme.
