Chandigarh, September 22, 2026: The Department of Political Science at Panjab University, Chandigarh, today organised a special lecture titled "Tibetan Buddhist System of Reincarnation: Spiritual Tradition, Geopolitics, and Global Implications". The key speaker was Dr. Lobsang Sangay, former President of the Central Tibetan Administration (2011–2021) and current Lecturer at Harvard Law School.
The event opened with a welcome address by Department Chairperson Professor Navjot, who introduced the speaker and emphasized the importance of multidisciplinary learning in engaging students with complex global realities. Professor Deepak K. Singh chaired the session.
In his address, Dr. Sangay traced the historical development of India–China relations and the broader Tibet question. He highlighted the global geopolitical significance of the Buddhist system of reincarnation, noting how the world’s third-largest religion intersects with intricate historical, political, and strategic dynamics.
The lecture provided students with a valuable platform to explore contemporary geopolitical issues through the lenses of history, religion, and international relations. Professor Deepak K. Singh moderated a vibrant Q&A session and concluded the event with a vote of thanks to the speaker and audience.
