Special lecture on `Contemporary Relevance of Netaji Subhas: Past as Present’ 

Chandigarh, March 16, 2022: A special lecture was delivered by Professor Arun Bandopadhyay, eminent historian from the University of Calcutta, on 'Contemporary Relevance of Netaji Subhas: Past as Present' on Wednesday, organised by Dr B. R. Ambedkar Centre and University School of Open Learning, Panjab University. The speaker underscored the relevance of Netajis ideology for contemporary times and asserted that Nationalism promoted by him was the need of the hour.

According to the speaker, Netaji was inspired by the Bhagwat Gita, that guided him to fight for his cause that is freedom of India. Professor Bandopadhyay also referred to the changing relations between Netaji and various leaders of the freedom movement like Jawaharlal Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi at various points of his life. Netajis role in the Indian National Army was also highlighted. His secular views and firm belief in fighting for freedom made him one of the tallest leaders of India’s struggle for freedom.
