Special Camps for Sukanya Samriddhi accounts in Main Post Office

Ludhiana, February 7, 2023: The Ludhiana Postal Department will organize special camps for opening Sukanya Samriddhi accounts on February 9 and 10 in main Post Office near Bharat Nagar Chowk. 

Business Development Officer Nishi Mani from Postal Department said that an account could be opened for a girl child from 0 to 10 years of age with a minimum amount of Rs 250 by parents/guardians in the post offices. Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana was launched in 2015. He said that a maximum amount of Rs 1.5 lakh could be deposited by cheque, demand draft or by cash during one financial year. He said that the duration for deposits in this account was 15 years and the bank account will be matured after 21 years or at the marriage of the girl child (whichever is earlier). Apart from this, a 50 per cent withdrawal has been allowed by girl children after 18 years. He said that people must bring birth certificate or Aadhaar card of the girl child besides Aadhaar and PAN card of the parents. 

He appealed to the people of district to avail maximum benefit of special camps and ensure opening of accounts of their girl child under the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana scheme.
