South Eastern Railway, Kolkata team wins 44th All India Railway Hockey Women's Championship

South Eastern Railway, Kolkata emerged victorious in the final of the 44th All India Railway Women Hockey Championship played at Synthetic Turf Hockey Stadium in Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala. The SER team won the title by defeating  Northern Railway New Delhi by 4-1.

Kapurthala, February 27, 2024: South Eastern Railway, Kolkata emerged victorious in the final of the 44th All India Railway Women Hockey Championship played at Synthetic Turf Hockey Stadium in Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala. The SER team won the title by defeating  Northern Railway New Delhi by 4-1.

Till the scheduled time both the teams were tied at 1-1. After this , shootout was resorted to in which the South Eastern Railway Kolkata team emerged victorious 4-1. Earlier in the match for third and fourth positions, Central Railway Mumbai defeated Western Railway Mumbai 2-1. Monica and Lalru Atfaili scored one goal each for the winning team while Neeraj Rana scored the solitary goal for Western Railways.

Eight teams participated in this seven-day long championship and t were divided into two groups. Pool A included teams from Central Railway Mumbai, North Central Railway Prayag, Western Railway Mumbai and East Central Railway Hajipur, while Pool B included the hosts Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala and  teams from South Eastern Railway Kolkata, North Eastern Railway Gorakhpur and Northern Railway New Delhi.

After the final match, a prize distribution ceremony was held  which S. Srinivas, General Manager, Rail Coach Factory, distributed prizes to the winners, runners-up and players.

On this occasion, President of RCF Women's Welfare Organization, S. Bhargavi Devi and other members, all officials of RCF Sports Association, senior officers, officials from Railway Board, members of all unions and organizations, former and present players and a large number of sports lovers  were present.
