THOUSANDS OF MOISTED EYES BID ADIEU TO SEPOY JAGSIR SINGH
Ferozepur, January 2, 2018: The body of Sepoy Jagsir Singh of Indian Army, who attained martyrdom during exchange of fire with Pakistani forces in Naushera sector of Jammu and Kashmir day before yesterday, was brought to his native Village Lohgarh Thakran Wala today where the cremation took place with full state honours.

It is pertinent to mention here though the body of Sepoy Jagsir Singh was airlifted yesterday in an army helicopter. Thousands of moist eyes were waiting to see a glimpse of true son of soil who sacrificed his life for his motherland.

The emotions were running high and the people raised slogans of “Hindustan Zindabad” also. Besides “Anti Pakistan” slogans were also raised. Senior officials from Army, BSF, Police and Administration, senior political leaders attended the cremation ceremony of Jagsir Singh and paid floral tributes to his body. Jasbir Singh, the brother of Sepoy Jagsir, performed all the rituals during the cremation.

Ramvir, Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur said that the whole nation is feeling proud of Jagsir Singh and Ferozepur District. “The state and the central government will provide all possible help to the family members of the martyr”, said Ramvir.

Kamal Sharma, former Punjab BJP Chief said that we all should feel proud of Sepoy Jagsir Singh. “Sepoy Jagsir Singh not only attained martyrdom but he also proved that Ferozepur is truly a land of brave people”, said Kamal Sharma.

Sepoy Jagsir Singh had joined the Indian army in 2004 and attained martyrdom on December 31, 2017. Jagsir is survived by his wife Smt Mohinder Pall Kaur, two daughters and one son.

On this occasion, B.S. Rajpurohit, DIG, BSF, Bhupinder Singh, SSP, Ferozepur,Harjit Singh Sandhu, SDM, Ferozepur, Inderjit Singh Zira, former Cabinet Minister of Punjab, Jasmel Singh Laddi Gehri, Amarbir Singh Chahal, Lt. Col. (Retd), Deputy Director, Department of Defence Services Welfare, Punjab, Lt. Vinod Kumar, Subedar Swarn Singh and other were present.
