Nilokheri, March 12, 2026: Social audit is a democratic process of continuous public monitoring of the implementation of government schemes, through which society's confidence in the transparent and proper use of government funds can be strengthened. These views were expressed by Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan, Director of the Haryana Institute of Rural Development (HIRD). He was addressing the participants at the inaugural session of the two-day social audit training program. Dr. Chauhan inaugurated the program by lighting a lamp.
Dr. Chauhan said that to ensure that the social audit process does not become a mere formality, it is essential that officers and employees work with full dedication and commitment to ensure the active participation of the rural community. He said that only when the village community itself participates in the monitoring of schemes, transparency and accountability are strengthened, and the real benefits of development work reach the last person.
The HIRD Director called upon the officers and employees to develop the habit of using the official language Hindi 100% in their daily work. He said that now the time has come to end the unnecessary influence and dominance of English, which exists as a remnant of slavery in administrative work, and to make Hindi the natural language of behavior and functioning.
Program coordinator Dr. Wazir Singh Duhan and assistant professor Dr. Sushil Mehta were present on the occasion. Officers and employees from various districts of Gurgaon division are receiving training about the process, objectives and practical aspects of social audit.
