SNID Pulse Polio Round to begin from Sep 26: DC 

Ludhiana, September 24, 2021: The five-day long sub-national immunization round of pulse polio drive would begin from September 26 to September 30 wherein as many as 356918 children would be covered in Ludhiana. 

Presiding over a meeting, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Amit Kumar Panchal, said that children up to five years of age would be covered during the drive as about 1667 teams would conduct door to door visits to administer the polio vaccine drops by visiting 860274 houses. 

The DC stated that the health department has constituted 1667 teams including 1492 house to house teams, 57 transit teams and 118 mobile teams. 

He said that 3334 members of health teams headed by 331 supervisors would ensure coverage of targeted population. 

He also mentioned that during these five-days the permanent camps would be set up at the Railway station and Bus Stand to cover maximum beneficiaries. 

Sharma exhorted people to ensure their children from zero to five get the polio drops in nearby polio booths during these days. 

He added that only through people's cooperation the war against polio disease can be won over. 

The Deputy Commissioner asked the health department to lay focus on high-risk migratory population by making special visits to construction sites and brick kilns.

He appealed to the residents to assist the health teams in carrying out this drive successfully.
