Rohtak, September 23, 2026: The BJP on Wednesday handed Smriti Irani the key organisational responsibility of Haryana, appointing the former Union minister and newly appointed national general secretary as the party’s Haryana in-charge. Bhola Singh has been named co-in-charge.
Irani’s appointment puts her at the forefront of the BJP’s organisational affairs in Haryana as the party gears up for the next election cycle. She will also oversee Chhattisgarh, according to the BJP’s latest list of state in-charges.
The Haryana assignment comes barely weeks after Irani’s return to the BJP’s national organisational team as a general secretary. Her appointment was part of a wider reshuffle covering all 28 states and eight Union Territories as the party steps up preparations for the 2027 electoral cycle.
The appointments were announced by BJP president Nitin Nabin. The BJP said the appointments are effective immediately, signalling a renewed organisational focus as the party begins preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections.
