Bathinda, December 8, 2025: The Central University of Punjab has taken a significant step toward environmental conservation with the installation of a paper recycling machine on its campus — a small yet powerful move under its Green Campus Initiative, reinforcing the university’s commitment to sustainability and responsible waste management.

The unit located in ‘Waste to Health Centre’ was inaugurated by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari in the presence of Registrar Dr. Vijay Sharma.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tiwari stated that sustainable practices adopted within educational institutions play a crucial role in shaping environmentally conscious citizens and inspiring society to prioritize ecological responsibility.

Registrar Dr. Vijay Sharma informed that the new recycling unit will convert the office waste—primarily A-4 paper and cardboard—generated from daily use at the university into useful stationery items such as files, conference pads, folders, envelopes, and certificates, thereby promoting zero-waste operations on campus.

Members of the CU Punjab fraternity expressed delight in contributing to the University’s Green Campus Initiatives and reaffirmed their commitment to sustainable development.

With this initiative, CU Punjab strengthens its pledge to integrate sustainability into campus operations and nurture an environmentally responsible academic ecosystem — echoing the belief that meaningful change begins with small steps, and every step counts toward a greener future.
