Small changes, big impact: Sony SAB artists offer practical water-saving tips
Water is the foundation of life and is one of the most precious resources in our world today. As communities across the globe face growing water scarcity, the need to conserve and use water responsibly has never been more important. While large-scale solutions are essential, meaningful change often begins with small, mindful actions at home. Sony SAB’s beloved artists - Iqbal Khan, Gulki Joshi, Muskan Bamne, Karuna Pandey and Toral Rasputra come together to highlight the significance of water conservation. Through simple yet mindful practices in their everyday lives, they share how small actions can create a lasting impact and encourage audiences to make water-saving a way of life.
Iqbal Khan, who plays Dr. Dev Mehta in Yaadein shares, "One of the easiest things you can do is simply turn off the tap while brushing your teeth. Most people leave it running the entire time without realising it. That one small change alone can save several litres of water every single day. We do not need big solutions all the time. Sometimes the simplest habits are the ones that make the most impact."
Gulki Joshi, who plays Dr. Srishty Agarwal in Yaadein, shared, "Something I started doing at home is keeping a bucket in the bathroom to collect the water that runs while waiting for it to heat up. Most of us just let that go down the drain every single day without thinking about it. That collected water is perfectly good for mopping the floor or watering plants. It is such a small thing to do but the amount of water you end up saving over a month is quite surprising."
Muskan Bamne, who plays Shanaya in Pushpa Impossible, shares, "I actually time my showers now. It sounds a little extra but once you start, you realise how much water you were using without even noticing. Keeping it to five minutes makes a real difference. I think when we treat saving water like a personal goal, something we hold ourselves to every day, it stops feeling like a chore and starts feeling like a win."
Karuna Pandey, who plays Pushpa in Pushpa Impossible, shares, "The water leftover from washing vegetables can easily be used for watering the plants. I have been pouring it into my pots at home for years instead of throwing it down the sink. It hardly takes any effort and helps conserving a lot of water. It is the kind of habit that once you start, you wonder why you did not do it sooner."
Toral Rasputra, who plays Kunti in Hastinapur Ke Veer, shares, "Water has always been treated as something sacred in our culture and I think we have slowly lost that feeling. A leaking tap, a running pipe, water left wasting somewhere in the house, these things matter more than we think. Getting them fixed is not a big effort but the difference it makes over time is enormous. What we take care of today is what will be available for the generations that come after us."
