Sleep tight to shun high-calorie diet

New York, May 13 (IANS) If increasing weight of your body is bothering you, do not lose sleep as researchers have found that how well you sleep is intricately linked to how healthy your diet is.

Lack of adequate rest at night is linked to poor food choices during the day, the findings showed.

The researchers found that women participants in the study who slept for less than six hours every night consumed more calories than those who slept for seven hours.

Even more worry was the finding that those who slept less were likely to choose less nutritious food than those women who got seven hours of sleep every night.

"So all the ladies out there, who are aspiring for a bikini body and yet can not resist those mouthwatering pizzas and burgers, get set for a session of sound sleep first and do not let the habit slip out soon," the researchers added.

There is a close relationship between diet quality and sleep quality.

Strive for the best of both, and you should sleep soundly, said the study that appeared in the journal Obesity.
