Chandigarh, June 16, 2015: Six Chandigarh Region Innovation of Knowledge Cluster (CRIKC) institutions faculty members have been selected as ‘Members of the National Academy of Sciences (NASI), India’. Total 51 new members have been selected out of which three are from Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh and three are from other CRIKC institutions.
Eligibility to become a member is high academic qualifications in any discipline of Science and Technology, active involvement in Science and Technology, and evidence of high quality of research publications in peer reviewed national and international Journal in addition to exceptional ability as a teacher or involvement in Science Promotion.
Prof Sanjay Chhibber from Department of Microbiology, Dr Sangeeta Pilkhwal Sah from University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Dr. Tankeshwar Kumar from Department of Physics are the three new NASI members from PU. Dr. Rajesh V. Nair from IIT-Ropar, Dr. Jitender Kumar from CIAB Mohali and Dr. Surinder Singh Rana from PGIMER Chandigarh are the three other new NASI members from CRIKC institutions.
