International para table tennis player Shubham Wadhwa from Ludhiana has added another historic achievement to his name through his determination, perseverance, and hard work. In 2016, he suffered a severe spinal injury in a major road accident and remained bedridden for nearly two years. However, table tennis gave him a new lease on life, renewed confidence, and a fresh purpose. Today, he is a 10-time National Gold Medallist and has brought glory to India by winning 20 international medals.

Ludhiana, July 24, 2026: International para table tennis player Shubham Wadhwa from Ludhiana has added another historic achievement to his name through his determination, perseverance, and hard work. In 2016, he suffered a severe spinal injury in a major road accident and remained bedridden for nearly two years. However, table tennis gave him a new lease on life, renewed confidence, and a fresh purpose. Today, he is a 10-time National Gold Medallist and has brought glory to India by winning 20 international medals.
Recently, Shubham Wadhwa scripted history by winning the bronze medal in the Mixed Doubles XD-7 category alongside Bhavina Patel at the ITTF World Para Elite Tournament, held in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, from July 18 to 22, 2026. With this achievement, he became the first Indian male player to win a medal at an ITTF Para Elite Tournament.
Shubham currently enjoys an impressive standing in the world rankings. He is ranked World No. 4 and Asia No. 3 in Mixed Doubles. In Singles, he is World No. 15, Asia No. 6, and India No. 1.
Speaking about his future goals, Shubham said he aims to win the gold medal at the 2026 Asian Para Games in Japan, deliver a strong performance at the World Championships in Thailand, and secure a medal for India at the 2028 Paralympic Games. He added that the upcoming tournaments in Ostrava and China will be crucial, as they will help him maintain his Asian ranking and qualify for major international competitions.
