Shortage of raw material will force industrialists/ labourers to come on roads

Ludhiana: A meeting of Federation of Industrial & Commercial Organization popularly known as FICO held under the Leadership of Shri Harjit Singh Sondh Co Chairman FICO along with Shri Gurmeet Singh Kular President FICO regarding the shortage of raw material in industry, due to Farmer’s Protest. FICO requested Shri Narendra Modi Honorable Prime Minister of India & Captain Amarinder Singh Honorable Chief Minister of Punjab to resolve the issues with the farmers and seeks immediate restoration of Railway Network.

As Farmers have been protesting throughout the nation, and blocking the highways/ railways at different locations, which has hurt the supply chain throughout the country, and industry is being hit the most, as there is a severe shortage of Raw Material especially steel in Punjab, the major plants manufacturing secondary form of steel like Aarti Steels, Avon Steels, Hero Steels, Avon Ispat & Power, etc. have closed operations as there is no raw material, due to non-movement of trains, this will result in closure of 90% industry in Ludhiana. The government should immediately resolve their disputes with the farmers, so that normality could be restored. It is notable that after Demonetization, GST Regime, Lockdown, Labour Shortage, Now Breakage in Supply Chain for Raw Material especially Steel, is affecting the industry very bad. Need not to mention that this breakage in supply chain will not affect the industry only, but also the revenue of the Centre & State Government in form of taxes will be also be worst affected.

Moreover, the non-movement of trains have affected the Import/ Exports very badly as there are containers stuck up at ports, and total import and export is halted, causing huge losses to trade and industry. The government should at least arrange the movement of trains, so that the stucked up goods may reach destination. More than 5000 containers are stucked up in Punjab to move out, & more than 2000 containers stucked up to move in to Punjab. Government should immediately take action to save the industry.
