“She Speaks: Voices that Refuse to be Silent” — CWD, UILS Hosts Monologue and Monoact Competition as a Part of Diva Dynamics 3.0 to Mark International Women’s Day
The Centre for Women Development (CWD), University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Panjab University, Chandigarh, organised the Monologue and Monoact Competition titled “She Speaks: Voices that Refuse to be Silent” on Wednesday at the Moot Court Hall, UILS, as part of the Diva Dynamics 3.0 celebrations commemorating International Women’s Day. The event provided a powerful platform for participants to bring forth stories of courage, resistance, and identity through compelling solo performances.
Chandigarh, March 12, 2026: The Centre for Women Development (CWD), University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Panjab University, Chandigarh, organised the Monologue and Monoact Competition titled “She Speaks: Voices that Refuse to be Silent” on Wednesday at the Moot Court Hall, UILS, as part of the Diva Dynamics 3.0 celebrations commemorating International Women’s Day. The event provided a powerful platform for participants to bring forth stories of courage, resistance, and identity through compelling solo performances.
Open to students from colleges and universities, the competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from individuals who used theatrical expression and storytelling to present narratives reflecting women’s lived realities. Through their performances, participants embodied the spirit of the theme by portraying voices that challenge silence, question societal norms, and celebrate resilience, making the stage a space for reflection as well as empowerment.
Each performance unfolded as a short yet impactful act, allowing participants to present intense and expressive monologues that captured the audience’s attention. The acts were presented in multiple languages, reflecting the diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds of the participants while adding richness and depth to the performances.
The competition was adjudged by an esteemed panel of judges comprising Dr. Sumedha Singh, Assistant Professor, School of Communication Studies, and Mr. Navpreet Singh, Research Officer, District Language Office, Bathinda, whose thoughtful observations and constructive feedback added great value to the event. The winners adjudged for the event were Navleen, Vaidehi, and Samiksha.
The event was held under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Shruti Bedi, Director, UILS, Prof. (Dr.) Anupam Bahri, Faculty Coordinator, CWD, Teacher Coordinators Ms. Manisha and Ms. Arshwinder, along with Student Coordinators Ruhani (President), Maan Kaur (Convenor), Harleen and Varsha (Co-Convenors), and the Event Head, Prisha, whose collective efforts ensured the smooth and engaging execution of the competition.
The event concluded on a powerful note, celebrating the strength of storytelling and performance while reaffirming the importance of creating platforms where voices that refuse to remain silent can be heard and appreciated.
