Shalby Hospital Mohali Launches Advanced Gastro-Sciences Department

Mohali, January 29, 2026: Amid a steady rise in digestive disorders, liver diseases, and lifestyle-related gastrointestinal conditions, Shalby Multi-Specialty Hospital, Mohali, part of the Shalby Hospitals network, has launched its Advanced Gastro-Sciences Department to strengthen access to specialized digestive healthcare in the region.
The new department was inaugurated on Thursday at Shalby Hospital, Mohali, by Dr. Charanjit Singh, MLA, Chamkaur Sahib, who attended the event as the Chief Guest. The initiative reflects the hospital’s continued focus on expanding advanced, patient-centric medical services.
The Advanced Gastro-Sciences Department provides comprehensive care for disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, pancreas, and biliary system. Equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic facilities, advanced endoscopy, and minimally invasive and laparoscopic surgical techniques, the department aims to ensure early diagnosis, precise treatment, and improved clinical outcomes.
The department is supported by a team of experienced specialists, including Dr. Rahul Gupta, Director – Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Endoscopy; Dr. G.R. Verma, Senior Consultant – GI & Laparoscopic Surgery; Dr. Pankaj Bhalla, Consultant – Surgical Gastroenterology; and Dr. Ravinder Goyal, Consultant – Gastro Sciences.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rahul Gupta said the department has been designed to deliver evidence-based gastroenterology care with a strong emphasis on early detection and advanced endoscopic procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort. Dr. G.R. Verma added that the availability of modern laparoscopic and surgical gastroenterology facilities will enable faster recovery and reduced complications for patients.
Dr. Pankaj Bhalla highlighted that a multidisciplinary approach will allow effective management of complex gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary conditions, while Dr. Ravinder Goyal emphasized the importance of holistic care encompassing prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and long-term disease management.
