Shah promises unprecedented development to border residents

Ferozepur, February 16, 2022: Union Home Minister Amit Shah today promised to the residents of this district sharing international boundaries with Pakistan that the foundation stone of the PGI satellite centre will be laid “virtually” before Baisakhi, which will give a major Phillip to the health care needs of the residents of this border region.
In an apparent attempt to woo the border area farmers, Shah said that due to model code of conduct, he is not able to make “big” announcements but now he is well aware about the problems of border area farmers and all of their problems will be resolved. During his 14 minutes, Shah minced no words in slamming AAP, Congress and SAD. Shah said AAP claims to wipe out drugs in Punjab but in Delhi where Arvind Kejriwal is the Chief Minister, the people have become addicted to liquor. “Neither SAD nor Congress can make Punjab a drug free state. I assure everyone that the BJP will curb the menace of drugs in the state within few months”, he said.
While targeting Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, Shah said that how Channi can protect the people of Punjab if he could not provide protection to the Prime Minister of the nation. Shah said that 1984 riots took place due to Congress. “We put the accused behind the bar after forming the government in Centre. Not only this , the union government has promised to provide Rs. 5 lakh to the family members of riots victim. None of the government in Punjab had taken such initiative ”, he said.
While slamming the previous Congress regimes, Shah said that if Modi would have been the Prime Minister at the time partition, Nankana Sahib and Kartarpur would have been part of India only.
BJP candidate Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi put up a “Charter of demands” to the Union Home Minister. The demands included the reopening of Hussainiwala border for trade and transit, declaration of 20kms of border area from Pathankot to Fazilka as tax free zone, construction of Ferozepur-Patti rail link and others.
Shah assured Sodhi that all these demands will be fulfilled. “The problems of the residents of this border region are not their problem now, they are mine and I will solve them”, he added
On this occasion, Shah was accompanied by Union State Minister Minakshi Lekhi, Kailash Chaudhary, BJP National Secretary Tarun Chugh and other BJP leaders.
