Chandigarh, October 5, 2026: The University Institute of Fashion Technology & Vocational Development (UIFT & VD), Panjab University, Chandigarh, today organised an insightful session titled “The Pressure to Keep Up: Expectations, Comparison and the Need to Prove Yourself”.
The session was organised under the chairpersonship of Prof. Prabhdip Brar, Chairperson, UIFT & VD, and coordinated by Dr. Ramandeep Bawa, along with student coordinators Priyanka and Vinita.
The guest speaker for the session was Shweta Arora, Founder of Kintsugi of the Soul and an Inner Identity Coach. With more than two decades of senior-level experience across the corporate and development sectors, Ms. Arora works in the areas of self-awareness, identity, emotional well-being and meaningful personal change.
During the interactive session, Arora addressed the growing pressure among young people to constantly meet expectations, compare themselves with others and prove their worth. She encouraged students to develop greater self-awareness and understand their individual journey rather than measuring their progress against someone else’s timeline. The session highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between ambition and the constant pressure to prove oneself, especially as students prepare to enter professional life.
The discussion also encouraged students to reflect on identity, emotional well-being and the influence of social and professional expectations on personal growth. Students actively participated in the interaction and raised questions regarding healthy ambition, comparison and ways of managing the pressure to succeed.
The session concluded with a message reminding students that every individual has a different journey and timeline, and personal growth should not be measured solely through comparison with others.
