Senior citizens should dial police helpline at 1090 in case of emergency

Ludhiana, November 20, 2014: Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Amrit Kaur Gill has appealed to all senior citizens that they should call at Ludhiana Police Commissionerate helpline number 1090 in case of any emergency. She said that the senior citizens play a prominent role in society and said that our younger generation should always respect them.

While presiding over a meeting of "The Maintenance and Senior Citizen Act 2007", Amrit Kaur Gill said that senior citizens are torchbearers of our society and we should take full use of their life experiences. She said that even the District Administration is into their service.

The ADC directed all district administration officials to give due respect to the senior citizens and implement the Deputy Commissioner';s orders that Nodal Officers should be appointed in all departments for this purpose. She directed that boards mentioning all details about the Act as well as the Nodal Officers should also be placed in all Police Stations and Hospitals.

ADC Amrit Kaur Gill said that the Ludhiana Police Commissionerate has already started a helpline number 1090 where the senior citizens can call in case of emergency.
