Senior BJP leader and party’s National Council Member Sanjay Tandon called on Vice President of India CP Radhakrishnan at his official residence in New Delhi and held a detailed discussion on several important issues concerning Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Chandigarh, June 12, 2026: Senior BJP leader and party’s National Council Member Sanjay Tandon called on Vice President of India CP Radhakrishnan at his official residence in New Delhi and held a detailed discussion on several important issues concerning Panjab University, Chandigarh.
During the meeting, Tandon apprised the Vice President about the long-pending matter relating to the enhancement of the retirement age of Panjab University employees and faculty members from 60 to 65 years. He submitted a comprehensive set of documents detailing the historical framework, existing provisions and the recommendations previously approved by the University Senate regarding the issue.
Tandon emphasized that an early decision on the matter would greatly benefit the university’s teaching community and help preserve valuable academic experience within the institution. He requested the Vice President’s intervention to facilitate a timely resolution so that deserving professors and employees can avail the benefits at the earliest.
He also extended an invitation to the Vice President to visit Panjab University and interact with the academic fraternity. Additionally, Tandon requested that a delegation of the Panjab University Teachers’ Association (PUTA), which is keen to present its concerns directly, be granted an opportunity to meet the Vice President.
As a gesture of goodwill, Tandon also presented the Vice President with a copy of his book, ‘Sunrays for Friday.’
Describing the interaction as highly positive and constructive, Tandon said that the Vice President listened patiently to all the issues raised and assured him that the matter would be examined sympathetically and that efforts would be made to find an appropriate solution at the earliest.
