Chandigarh, January 28, 2026: Senior BJP leader Sanjay Tandon on Wednesday said the Union Budget 2026–27, which Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present on Feb 1, is slated to further strengthen India’s growth momentum and accelerate the country’s journey towards an inclusive Viksit Bharat by 2047. "I am confident that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present another transformative Union Budget on Feb 1," said Sanjay Tandon.

He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has emerged as one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies, supported by strong domestic demand, a resilient services sector and sustained public investment in infrastructure.

“Structural reforms in taxation, insolvency resolution, digital payments and financial inclusion have strengthened economic fundamentals and improved ease of doing business, enabling India to become the world’s fourth-largest economy,” Tandon said in a statement.

He noted that manufacturing is gaining momentum through initiatives such as Make in India and production-linked incentive schemes, while agriculture and MSMEs continue to receive focused policy support.

Tandon also lauded Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for steering the economy through a challenging period since assuming office in 2019.

He said her tenure has been marked by decisive interventions during the COVID-19 pandemic, including the Atmanirbhar Bharat packages, alongside a strong emphasis on capital expenditure, fiscal prudence and long-term structural reforms.

Highlighting GST reforms, Tandon said the tax regime has been one of the most significant structural changes in India’s economic landscape.

With the Union Budget 2026–27 to be presented on February 1, Tandon said expectations are high that the reform momentum will continue.

He expressed the hope that the Budget would reinforce growth through sustained public investment and targeted support to key sectors, while deepening the government’s commitment to inclusive development.
