Seminar on Waste Segregation held in Doaba College

NSS Department of Doaba College, Jalandhar organized a seminar on Waste Segregation. Saroj Kapoor, a community facilitator from Jalandhar Municipal Corporation was the resource person. She was accorded a hearty welcome by Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari, Dr. Arshdeep Singh- coordinator, program officers and NSS volunteers.

Seminar on Waste Segregation held in Doaba College

Jalandhar, January 1, 2024: NSS Department of Doaba College, Jalandhar organized a seminar on Waste Segregation. Saroj Kapoor, a community facilitator from Jalandhar Municipal Corporation was the resource person. She was accorded a hearty welcome by Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari, Dr. Arshdeep Singh- coordinator, program officers and NSS volunteers.

Dr. Pardeep Bahndari highlighted the need of waste segregation at source itself that would be a small step in curbing the menace of waste generation in city. He also encouraged NSS Volunteers to spread this awareness among their society members also. Dr. Arshdeep Singh introduced the speaker to the audience and urged volunteers to make waste segregation a regular part of their routine.

Saroj Kapoor, serving in Swachh Bharat Mission since 2016, stressed upon audience the role of waste segregation into dry and wet waste helps in proper recycling and waste management. She also showed different coloured bins that are used for different kinds of waste.

Speaker along with NSS Volunteers also visited the Pits created in Doaba College Jalandhar for waste management. Thereafter, winners of quiz competition were presented with prizes. 

Shivani (B.Sc. Medical Sem I) and AmandeepKaur (B.Sc. CS Sem III) won first prize. Ishita (B.Sc. Medical Sem III), Komal (BCA Sem I) and Vicky (BA Sem I) jointly won second prize. Tejas (B.Com Sem III), Ishika (BA BEdSem III) and Chahat (BA BEdSem III) won third prize. 

Event culminated with formal vote of thanks by Prof. Rajni.
