Seminar on Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s Representation in Punjabi Literature Held at PU
In the Series of One month programmes dedicated to the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, a one day seminar on the representation of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji in Punjabi literature was organised in Department of Guru Nanak Sikh Studies.
Chandigarh, 20 November 2025: In the Series of One month programmes dedicated to the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, a one day seminar on the representation of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji in Punjabi literature was organised in Department of Guru Nanak Sikh Studies.
Dr. Sukhwinder Singh, Dr. Praveen Kumar, Parmveer Singh, Amandeep Singh and Veerpal Kaur presented research papers on the life, martyrdom and Bani of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Prof. Balwinder Singh Lali of USA inaugurated the seminar and Prof. Uma Sethi delivered the presidential address. She said that the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji is the capital of not only Punjab but also the entire Indian civilization. Dr. Gurinder Singh Mann invoked audiences to its basic facts rather than explaining Sikh History. Punjabi poet Manmohan Singh Daun said that the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib has become a beacon of light for the entire humanity. Pritpal Singh Tiwana, President of Punjabi Writer’s Association Seattle, America, expressed concern about the condition of Punjabi language.
Dr. Mohinder Gill, a renowned British Poet, emphasized on creating a balance between spirituality and science. Dr. Sarabjit Singh in the vote of thanks, said that the martyrdom of Guru Sahib has also created a new linguistic, social and historical order in India. Kalmi Ramzan-4 poetic collection edited by Balihar Singh Lohal, President, Punjabi Writes Association, Seattle, U.S.A was released in the Seminar. Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, Dr. Harmail Singh, Dr. Akwinder Kaur Tanwi and many others were present there. The stage was conducted by the Prof. Gurpal Singh Academic In-charge of the Department.
