Seminar on Gender Equity and Equality Held at Doaba College

Jalandhar, August 28, 2023: Department of Education, Doaba College, Jalandhar organized a seminar on the theme “Gender Equity and Equality”. Nupur Sandhu, Former President Rotary Club and Chair on Mental Health and Initiative was the resource person. She was warmly welcomed by Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari , Dr Avinash Chander head , faculty and students. 

Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari said that a balanced approach is very important to promote Gender Equity and Equality effectively.

Dr.Bhandari emphasized on need of financial literacy for women in order to strengthen Gender Equity and Equality.

Nupur Sandhu elaborated the whole issue of Gender Equity and Equality by quoting specific examples from society. She said that women should learn to assert themselves and take their own decisions. She said that women empowerment will come only when women learn to take responsibility for their actions. She also emphasized the role of family in women empowerment.

Dr. Avinash Chander differentiated between the terms gender equity and gender equality and said that it is equity that leads to equality. 

The stage was well conducted by Prof. Manjeet Kaur. Prof. Jaswinder Singh presented a formal vote of thanks.
