Chandigarh, May 29, 2022: Panjab University Girls’ Hostel no. 9, Amrita Pritam Hall, organized its second ‘Tap Your Toes  dance competition- 2022’ for the Panjab University students under the guidance of Prof. Jagtar Singh, DSW, Prof. Meena Sharma, DSW (Women) and Prof Ashok Kumar, DSW (Associate). The event started with lighting of lamp followed by formal introduction and welcome of the guests by Dr. Shipra Gupta, Warden GH 9. There were fifteen entries for the competition under different dance forms. The performances were judged by the experienced professional dancers of good stature - Ms. Jatinder Arora Nayyar, Mr. Rajinder and Ms Preeti. Jatinder is a trained kathak dancer and has learnt kathak under the guidance of Sh. Deepak Aurora, acclaimed kathak exponent of Jaipur Gharana (disciple of Pt. Rajendra Gangani ji). She has performed in prestigious dance festivals across India like 'Geeta Jayanti@ Kurukshetra', "Divya Kumbh"@ Prayagraj,   Pongal@ Tirupati Bala ji, Janmashtmi@ ISKON temple, New Delhi to name a few. Mr Rajinder is professionally trained in different forms of dances like western, hip hop, Bollywood, bhangra etc. Currently he is the team leader of more than 8 members trained for aerobics, bhangra, Zumba, Bollywood etc.  Has been working at different platforms across tricity. Ms Preeti has vast experience of 15 years in dance choreography. She has been honoured with best dancer award in Haryana and Chandigarh and is the recipient of Old Students Association Life Time Achievement Award from Panjab University.  
The Judges had real tough time doing the judgement as there was cut-throat competition.  The participants presented confluence of dance forms such as classical, hip hop, contemporary, free style, Punjabi and Pahari folk etc. The participants from various departments, like Bio-Physics, biotechnology, UIET, UIAMS participated enthusiastically. Nancy from IFSE, Mehak from UIAMS and Sanjana from UIAMS  were awarded first, second and third positions. Four consolation prizes were awarded to Jaswinder and Sonam from Bio-Chemistry Department and Jyoti from Computer Science Department. All the prize winners and the participants were given certificates

Special performances by the judges added to the glamour of the event and enthralled the audience with their amazing dance.
The judges interacted with the participants and gave them valuable feedback on their performances. The judges appreciated the overwhelming response of participants, their spirit and amazing talent. Dr. Ravneet Kaur, Warden Girls Hostel No. 3, Dr. Avneet Saini, Warden, Working Women Hostel, Dr. Simran, Warden Girls Hostel 8 and Dr. Archana Chauhan also attended the function. The dance competition was a huge success and was attended by. Dr. Shipra Gupta thanked all the participants and the guests.
