Second State Level Environment Management Fair organized at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College

Ludhiana, November 25, 2022: In order to create awareness among the people to take care of the environment, 'SOCH', an organization working for the environment, organized the second state level Environment Conservation Fair-2022 at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana.  The fair had more than 60 stalls set up by charitable, NGO and private companies with different models, motivating peopel towards environmental stewardship.  Prizes worth lakhs of rupees were given in different categories.

Prominent personalities from different sections of the society including Ludhiana Police Commissioner Mandeep Singh Sidhu, Malerkotla SSP Olympian Avneet Kaur , renowned writer and poet Dr Surjit Patar, Dr Manjit Singh Kang former Vice Chancellor PAU, Dr Ashok Kumar Director Extension PAU, Gurpreet Singh Toor Retired IPS, Sant Baba Gurmeet Singh Ji, Principal GNE College Dr. Sahajpal Singh specially attended the fair and praised the event.

Organization's president Dr. Balwinder Singh Lakhewali and secretary Dr. Brij Mohan Bhardwaj told that the fair was organized in association with Guru Sahib Charitable Society (Khosa Cluster), Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College Ludhiana, Punjab Agricultural University Ludhiana, Punjab Pollution Control Board, Punjabi Film and TV Actress Association, Apni Kheti and Punjabi University Patiala, etc.  Meanwhile, in different categories, Gram Panchayat Roorka Kalan for Nirmal Jal, Amarjit Singh village Bargari district Faridkot for multi-variety farming, Iqbal Singh Sandhu village Daska district Sangrur for Meri Mitti Mera Sona, Rukhan Da Rakha for different categories Sandeep Arora Faridkot, for wildlife protection Nikhil Sengar was rewarded.  In the field of photography, the first prize was given to Rajesh Mahajan, second to Hardeep Singh and third to Arun Bansal.  First prize for short film was given to Bageshwar Singh's short film Best Tourist Spot in Jalandhar, second prize to Khushbinder Singh's Invasive Plant Species of Punjab and third prize to Charanjeev Singh's short film Neend-Mata Dharti Mahatt.

He told that taking one more step towards environment management, coordinators have been appointed at the district level.  Whose main work will be to coordinate with district administration and the institutions or individuals working on the issue of environment in the district and from time to time contribute to the work done by the organization 'SOCH'.
Government Senior Secondary School Naggal, Sirsa, District Rupnagar was given the first prize of Rs 10,000 for the science model during the fair.  Reshma and Amanjot Kaur were awarded for environment friendly disposable system.  The second prize of Rs 8,600 was given to Government High School Govindpur district Hoshiarpur and prizes were given to Sukhdeep Kaur class 9th and Gurleen Kaur class 8th for making paper from hemp plant.  The third prize of Rs 5,000 was given to Sukhmani Class 8, Government Middle School Dona Bhadru Block Guruharsahai-2 for Innovative Devices for Environment Conversation.

On this occasion, more than 60 stalls related to environment were put up by PAU, GNE College, PPCB, Punjabi University Patiala, Apni Kheti, Guru Sahib Charitable Trust, NGOs and private companies. During this event the vice president of the organization Taran Sidhu, Er.  Amarjit Singh, Treasurer Vikas Sharma, Media Coordinator Sarabjit Kaur, Punjabi film actors Malkit Rauni, Savinder Mahal, Bharat Bhushan Verma, Seema Kaushal, Raj Dhaliwal, Poonam Sood, Prakash Gadhu, Paramjit Bhangu, Rahul Joshi were specially present.  Whereas, a troupe of folk artistes, Rangle Sardar enthralled the audience with Punjabi folk songs.
