Further, in recent times severe floods and fire incidents have highlighted the urgent need for preparedness and awareness. He highlighted the importance of equipping young students with knowledge and practical skills to respond effectively during emergencies.
Dr. Grover also drew attention to the regional context and said that the combination of incessant rainfall, rising water levels in Punjab's rivers and the controlled release of excess dam water has kept our state on high alert affecting nearly 23 districts, submerging vast acres of farmland and causing extensive crop damage
Delivering the vote of thanks, Dr. Munish Soin, Scientist-D, Science City, highlighted that to effectively address disasters, it is essential to understand the importance of nature-based solutions such as conserving forests, wetlands and undertaking river desilting efforts to preserve and maintain the natural flow of rivers.
