Say No to Tobacco, Say Yes to Life!” – Innocent Hearts Students Launch Anti-Tobacco Awareness Campaign

Jalandhar, May 31, 2025: Under ‘Disha – An Initiative’ run by the Bowry Memorial Educational and Medical Trust, all five schools of Innocent Hearts (Green Model Town, Loharan, Noorpur Road, Cantt.-Jandiala Road, and Kapurthala Road) observed World No Tobacco Day with a powerful awareness campaign titled “Tobacco: A Slow Poison”. The initiative was led by the students of the Literary Club  and Innovative Club. The primary aim of the campaign was to educate students about the deadly diseases caused by tobacco consumption and to highlight the serious risks associated with its use. On this occasion, students from Grades VII and VIII presented a street play, where they informed the audience about the harmful effects of tobacco and shared preventive measures. They emphasized that tobacco and smoking are life-threatening and have negative effects not only on physical health but also on mental well-being. To further spread awareness, students created posters featuring powerful slogans, warning their peers about diseases like liver cancer, lung cancer, and oral cancer — all linked to tobacco use. In classroom sessions, teachers explained to students how the consumption of bidis, cigarettes, and gutka damages the lungs and other organs of the body and increases the risk of fatal illnesses. Special emphasis was placed on adopting a healthy, tobacco-free lifestyle. Through a blend of art and education, students became agents of change, enthusiastically spreading the message: “Say No to Tobacco, Say Yes to Life!”
