Ludhiana, Sep 16,2025: Additional Deputy Commissioner Amarjit Bains held a meeting with officials from various departments to plan an extensive line-up of cultural activities aimed at showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage daily in the vibrant Saras Mela from October 4 to 13, 2025, at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU).
Bains, who is also Nodal Officer of Mela, stated that the festival will feature an amazing range of cultural performances, including music, dance, and art forms presented by artists from the North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC). Adding to the vibrancy of event, students from schools and colleges will perform traditional Punjabi art forms such as Gidha, Bhangra, and folk songs, fostering community engagement and celebrating Punjab’s rich folk traditions. A dedicated Punjabi Heritage Corner will showcase an exhibition of traditional Punjabi artifacts, offering visitors a glimpse into the state’s cultural legacy.
Further, food enthusiasts will be delighted with a diverse food spread featuring regional and international cuisines from Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, street food, south Indian delicacies, and even Chinese cuisine, ensuring a food journey for all.
Every evening, the Mela will host Star Nights, featuring performances by renowned singers, creating unforgettable experiences for visitors. In a commendable initiative, the district administration will donate all proceeds from these Star Nights to flood relief efforts, supporting people affected from natural calamity. Approximately 1,000 artisans from across India will set up 500 stalls, showcasing rare handicrafts, handmade products, and traditional arts. This vibrant display will reflect the creativity and diversity of Indian craftsmanship, making the Mela a hub for cultural exchange.
“The Saras Mela is a vibrant celebration of India’s cultural blend,” stated Additional Deputy Commissioner Amarjit Bains. “Through these daily cultural programs, the administration aims to unite communities, preserve rich heritage, and provide a platform for artisans, performers, and students to shine.”
