Ludhiana, October 26, 2023: District Administration Ludhiana led by Deputy Commissioner Surbahi Malik is all set to host one of the precious events of the country namely Saras Mela being organized at the premises of Punjab Agriculture University from October 27, 2023.

Addressing a press conference in this regard, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Rupinder Pal Singh said that this mega event would emerge as a beacon for showcasing rich Indian culture and heritage as artisans from across as many as 23 states will display their products as a demonstration of their artistic and culinary skills. He further stated that a total of 356 stalls would be set up here during the event including food stalls, and artisan stalls, among others. An entry fee of Rs. 10 has been fixed for the general public to visit this mela, he said, adding that proper security arrangements have also been put in place with the installation of over 300 CCTV cameras in the entire premises. He also mentioned that the proper arrangement for free-of-cost food, accommodation, and stalls has been ensured for these participants. 

Divulging more, the ADC said that children below the age of five have been exempted from the fee while students from government schools would be able to visit this mela free of cost. He also mentioned that the administration has roped in famous singers including Satinder Sartaj, Ranjit Bawa, Gurnam Bhullar, Sukhwinder Sukhi, Amar Sehmbi, Hunar Sidhu, Zorawat Wadali, Nitin, and others who will perform during this mega event to entrain the visitors.

This prominent event is once again being held in Ludhiana which is a matter of pride for the entire district, he said, adding that it is the third time the Ludhiana district is hosting this event as it is generally held at major cities of the country. Earlier, this event was held in 2012 and 2017, now it is the third time the people of Ludhiana will witness this mega event. He reiterated that the administration would leave no stone unturned to make this event a mega success in the district.
