Sankara Eye Hospital, Ludhiana celebrates World Optometry Day on Saturday.

Ludhiana, March 22, 2014: The World Optometry Day is celebrated with the motive of enhancement and development of primary eye and vision care by optometrist .Our vision is of world where optometrist makes high quality eye health and vision care accessible to all people.
According to World council of Optometry (WCO), optometry is a healthcare profession that is autonomous, educated and regulated, and optometrists are the primary healthcare practitioners of the eye and visual system who provide comprehensive eye and vision care, which includes refraction and dispensing, detection or diagnosis and management of disease in the eye and rehabilitation of condition of the visual system.  
The celebration involved the 22 students of the school of optometry being run in the Sankara Eye Hospital. As part of the celebration, the students spread awareness on eye donation and regular eye check up by holding street plays at the Ludhiana railway station and Wave mall where it attracted huge crowd. A poster competition and a role play were also conducted at the hospital premises and was highly appreciated by all the patients present in the hospital.
