Chandigarh, September 23, 2026: Senior BJP leader Sanjay Tandon on Wednesday welcomed the appointment of Mahendra Pandey as the new Chandigarh BJP in-charge, describing it as a significant organisational development that would further strengthen the party in the city.
Reacting to the BJP’s organisational reshuffle announced on Wednesday, Tandon said Pandey’s vast organisational experience would provide valuable guidance to the Chandigarh unit. “I warmly welcome the appointment of Mahendra Pandey ji as the new BJP in-charge for Chandigarh. His rich organisational experience will be a valuable asset for our party organisation in Chandigarh,” Tandon said.
Notably, the appointment comes at an important juncture, with the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation elections expected to be held in December and preparations for the polls already gaining momentum.
"The appointment of Mahendra Pandey ji will further strengthen the party cadre and its ward-level preparedness ahead of the elections. The party is focusing on strengthening its organisation at the grassroots level," said Tandon.
He said the BJP’s strength lies in its disciplined organisation and dedicated workers, adding that the new organisational responsibility would further energise the party cadre.
“Chandigarh BJP has a committed and hardworking team of Karyakartas. Under the guidance of the central leadership and with the collective efforts of our workers, we will continue to strengthen the organisation and remain closely connected with the people of Chandigarh,” he said.
“The BJP believes in taking every worker along and working with a spirit of collective responsibility. I am confident that Mahendra Pandey ji’s guidance will give further momentum to our organisational activities in Chandigarh and help further strengthen our cadre as we prepare for the upcoming Municipal Corporation elections,” he added.
