Sanitization to be carried out in all procurement centres of district during procurement operations

Ludhiana: Taking another decision to keep the spread of Covid-19 under check during wheat procurement season to start from April 10, sanitization drive would be carried out in the purchase centres regularly.

Disclosing more information in this regard, the Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said that ahead of the procurement operation of wheat starting from April 10, the district administration would conduct disinfection drive in all the purchase centres across the district including main and temporary. 

However, he said that as hundreds of farmers besides labourers/commission agents and others would daily visit these mandis so utmost care needs to be taken for checking the spread of Covid 19 in these grain markets.

Sharma said that keeping in view this it has been decided to embark a special drive to ensure sanitization in the purchase centres on regular basis.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the teams of Mandi Board would ensure spray of the disinfectant on regular basis in the mandis during the procurement operation which would begin April 10 and expected to be continued till May 31.

Sharma said that it was all the more important to de-sanitize these purchase centres for keeping Covid 19 at bay.

The Deputy Commissioner said that teams of the Mandi Board would spray Sodium Hypochlorite in these mandis. He said that besides the spray of disinfectant, the administration would ensure the availability of masks, hand sanitizers, soaps for the employees engaged the procurement operations.

He said that every step would be taken to ensure that spread of contagion can be curbed in an effective manner during the entire procurement operation and grain markets remain free of pandemic.

The district has 108 grain markets besides have created around 200 temporary yards and around 9 lakh MT wheat is expected to be arrived in this season.
