Sangrur leads in paddy procurement, Ludhiana district stands third

Chandigarh, November 5, 2013: The Government agencies and private millers procured more than 10546061 tonnes of paddy till last evening in Punjab.

Out of total procurement of 10546061 tonnes of paddy in all the procurement centers of Punjab, the Government agencies procured 9975420 tonnes of paddy (94.6%) till date whereas private traders procured 570641 tonnes (5.4%) of paddy. Till November 04, PUNGRAIN had procured 3005961 tonnes (30.1%) whereas MARKFED procured 2343327 tonnes (23.5%). PUNSUP procured 2239702 tonnes (22.5%), PSWC procured 977021 tonnes (9.8%) whereas PAFC was able to procure 1008276 tonnes (10.1%) of paddy. The Central Government agency FCI had been able to procure 401133 tonnes (4.0%).

The spokesperson added that District Sangrur with 1200974 tonnes of procurement was leading in procurement operations whereas District Patiala with 1103261 tonnes of procurement was at second slot and district Ludhiana 1101210 tonnes of procurement ranked at third position.
