Sampla assumes charge of Chairman of National Commission for Scheduled Castes

New Delhi: Former Union Minister Vijay Sampla today assumed the charge of Chairman of National Commission for Scheduled Castes at New Delhi. Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Krishan Pal Gurjar, Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Som Parkash and former Punjab Minister Tikshan Sud along with several Punjab BJP functionaries, who were present during the charge assuming ceremony, extended their wishes to Sampla for his successful tenure. Later, during lunch, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister D. V. Sadananda Gowda, Union Minister Hardeep Puri and Union Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur also greeted Sampla and wished him for his new assignment.  
 
Meanwhile, immediately after taking the charge, Sampla, who had also had served as Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment from 2014 to 2019 and is tallest Dalit face of BJP in Punjab, said that it was a matter of pride for him that the Union Government has assigned him such an important responsibility. Sampla said that he would be adopting a three-tier priority to resolve all the issued being faced by the Dalit community.
 
Elaborating on the three-tier mechanism to be adopted, Sampla said that firstly his focus will be on resolving the social issues being faced by the Dalit community. “Secondly, I would work to ensure that Dalits get justice in the government departments, whether it is the state or central, so that they are not subjected to any sort of exploitation in these departments”, he asserted. 
 
Sampla further said that in order to make sure the prevention of injustice, exploitation and various issues being faced by Dalits, whether socially or in government departments; from time to time, he would be submitting his report, in the form of suggestions, to the Hon’ble President of India.
 
Here, it is worth mentioning that Sampla joined BJP way back in year 1998. After successfully winning the Lok Sabha election from Hoshiarpur, Sampla served as Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment from 2014 to 2019. Besides, he had also held several key posts in BJP State Unit and had to his credit a successful tenure as President of the Punjab BJP.
