Salaam Zindagi Foundation adopts four children for Bone Marrow Transplant

Noble Cause: Salaam Zindagi Foundation adopts four children for Bone Marrow Transplant at Ludhiana on Tuesday.

Ludhiana, October 15, 2013: Salaam Zindagi Foundation along with Sutlej Club held a press conference today at Sutlej club and informed about the project “UMEED-A Hope” where in 23 Thallasemic children had been short listed for Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) test for matching Bone Marrow.
Out of these children bone marrow has matched for 4 children and these have been adopted by Salaam Zindagi Foundation for Bone Marrow Transplant and the treatment procedure will start from the next month onwards.
Rajat Aggarwal, Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana inspired the whole executive body of Sutlej Club to come forward for this noble cause. Under his guidance the executive members pledged to support Salaam Zindagi Foundation
Dr Rohit Dutta, General Secretary, Sutlej Club and Geeta Gupta, president, Laxmi Ladies Club applauded the efforts of Salaam Zindagi Foundation and ensured full support in project “UMEED-A Hope” from their respective clubs.
Dr. M Joseph John the only doctor after Delhi in North who is doing Bone Marrow Transplant in Thallasaemia patients said the average cost for the procedure is about Rs.17 lakh which is unaffordable for more than 90% of the people. Thus the initiative taken by Salaam Zindagi Foundation is commendable as it will save many lives. The four children Diya Khurana, Deepak, Krishna are from Ludhiana and Amrita Kaur from Jakhal Haryana.
