Sahnewal MLA dedicates new public mining sites to people in Garhi Fazil and Sasrali

Sahnewal (Ludhiana), April 25, 2023: Continuing its efforts to ensure the supply of sand to people of the state at Rs 5.5 per cubic ft, Sahnewal MLA Hardeep Singh Mundian on Tuesday dedicated two new public mining sites in Garhi Fazil and Sasrali. 

MLA Mundian said that Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann had promised to the people about providing sand at affordable rates and today, the government has fulfilled its another promise by opening more such sites. He said that sand would be available at Rs 5.5 per cubic ft and only manual excavation of sand permitted in these two sites. He said that no mining contractor would be allowed to operate in these public mining sites. He said that the sale of sand would take place only till sunset and a government official would remain always present to regulate the extraction of sand at each public mining site. 

Mundian said that with the opening of these two public mining sites, Sahnewal has now three such sites. He also said that with manual excavation, these sites will provide direct and indirect employment to several youths. The sand from public mining sites will only be sold for use in the construction of non-commercial projects, he added. 

MLA lashed out at previous governments for patronizing the sand mafia in the state and said that leaders of those parties have no moral right to speak on this issue.
