Sahayta Charitable Welfare Society Provides Needy Cancer Patients Financial Support

Sahayta Charitable Welfare Society, a social organization working steadfastly to reduce suffering of cancer patients and their families, has provided financial help to 25 needy cancer patients on World Cancer Day. Each cancer patient which also included children, was handed over an amount of Rs. 10,000.  Notably, the amount is given by donors once a year in memory of their loved ones.

Chandigarh, February 4, 2026: Sahayta Charitable Welfare Society, a social organization working steadfastly to reduce suffering of cancer patients and their families, has provided financial help to 25 needy cancer patients on World Cancer Day. Each cancer patient which also included children, was handed over an amount of Rs. 10,000.  Notably, the amount is given by donors once a year in memory of their loved ones.
 
It is pertinent to mention that Sahayta Charitable Welfare Society was established by Late Neelu Tulli, who herself suffered from cancer. The financial help was distributed by the donors to the needy patients and their relatives. The dissemination of the much needed aid was done under the supervision of Administrator of the Society, Wg Cdr Ajay Tulli (Retd.) and its President Renu Saigal, a cancer survivor. Members of the Society and many cancer survivors were also present on the occasion.   
 
President of Sahayta Charitable Welfare Society, Renu Saigal said, "A total of Rs. 2,50,000 in financial assistance was given. Cancer as a disease does shatter the patient both mentally and physically plus there is a huge financial drain on the patient and his or her family. Keeping this in mind, patients from economically challenged sections of society were provided much needed funds.”
 
Renu Saigal informed that children belonging to cancer inflicted families are being provided free education under the Vidya Jyoti Project run by Sahayta Charitable Welfare Society.

The society's administrator, Wg Cdr Ajay Tulli(Retd.) said, "One of the objectives of today's event was to motivate members of the public to help cancer patients who are in dire need of resources for their treatment.”
 
He added, “To help needy cancer patients and their families we will be holding a charitable cultural evening - a Sufi Night which will showcase a performance by the famous Sabri Brothers on Mar 21. The charitable event will take place at SD College Auditorium, Sec 32, Chandigarh. The funds collected through the show will be used to fund purchase of medicines and welfare of needy cancer patients."  
 
The Society has also been conducting camps for spreading awareness about prevention of cancer and detecting the disease. A breast cancer awareness walkathon - the Pink Walkathon is also held under its aegis in October every year. The society has been making provisions for free vaccinations of girls to prevent cervical cancer too.
