Ludhiana, December 5, 2019: Mr Gejja Ram Valmiki, Chairman, Safai Karamchari Commission, Punjab, today said that the Safai Karamchari Commission is committed for the welfare of safe karamcharis of the state. He said that all pending issues/demands related to Safai Karamcharis would be redressed on priority basis. He said this while chairing a meeting of Safai Karamcharis and government officials at Circuit House, here today.
While chairing the meeting, Mr Gejja Ram Valmiki said that the sole aim of their commission is the welfare of safai karamcharis, working in different government departments of the state. He said that during the today’s meeting, the safai karamcharis and their representatives raised several issues related to delayed salaries, compensation for safai karamcharis/sewermen, vacant posts in government departments, etc.
He also accused the union government of ignoring the interests of safai karamcharis under Swachh Bharat Mission. He also sought information related to funds spent on advertisement, functions and printing of flex under Swachh Bharat Mission. He demanded that the Union government should also provide funds under Swachh Bharat Mission that can be spent on the welfare of Safai Karamcharis.
He assured the safai karamcharis and their representatives that all posts lying vacant in government departments would be filled on priority basis. He also urged them to perform their duties with utmost devotion and honesty and warned that the commission would not support those who are not performing their duties with honestly.
Several safai karamcharis also submitted memorandums of their demands to Chairman Mr Gejja Ram Valmiki, who assured of all possible help to them. He said that the Safai Karamchari Commission Punjab would not let any government official of harassing any safai karamchari unnecessarily and if any person is found doing so, he would be strongly dealt with.
Mr Gejja Ram Valmiki was also honoured on the occasion by several organisations. Safai Karamchari Commission Punjab Vice Chairman Mr Ram Singh and Member Mr Inderjit Singh were also present on the occasion.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included ADC (General) Mr Iqbal Singh Sandhu, MC Joint Commissioner Mrs Swati Tiwana, Mr Jasdev Singh Sekhon, District Welfare Officer Mr Rajinder Kumar, Mr Ashwani Sahota, Mr Naresh Dhigan, Mr Rajat Arora Jagraon, Mr Bal Kishan Mullanpur MC, Mr Gora Ladhar, Mr KP Rana, Mr Rajesh Gill, Mr Jatinder Chalon, Mr Sital Deep Chauhan, Advocate Mr Rahul Adya, besides several others.
