Chandigarh, April 14, 2019: NGO Tushar Foundation in association with Sports-13 organized a 5 Km 'Run for Kesari' to commemorate 100 years of Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. The run was flagged off by Chandigarh BJP President Sanjay Tandon and the Guest of Honor was Major General IP Singh, Director, Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute.
Before the run started, a short movie on Jallianwala Bagh massacre was shown to make people aware about the tragedy and present in front of them important aspects of the incident. A one minute silence too was observed in remembrance of the Jallianwala Bagh martyrs.
The run was flagged off from the parking area of Chandigarh Club. The runners who numbered nearly 500 and included men, women, children and even veterans ran till Sukhna lake and came back to the start point thereby completing 5 kms. A Gatka performance was held after the run finished.
"The idea behind the event was to use the fitness route to remember Jallianwala Bagh martyrs. The event was characterised by patriotic fervour, as the tragic event of Jallianwala Bagh massacre was commemorated in form of a run that we named 'Run for Kesari'. 'Sports 13' will soon announce a mega health and fitness plan for tricity residents." Said Yadvinder Singh, CEO, Sports 13.
