Mumbai (Anil Bedag): Akshay Kumar’s much-awaited science-fiction action thriller Samuk has already generated considerable buzz for its unique storyline and large-scale production. Now, a fresh casting update has added another layer of excitement around the film. According to reports, popular Bengali actress Rukmini Maitra may be seen alongside Akshay Kumar in the film. The actress is reportedly in discussions with the makers for an important role.
Directed by Kanishk Varma, Samuk is being produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah under the banner of Sunshine Pictures, with Aashin A. Shah serving as co-producer. The film is currently being shot in the UK and is being mounted on a large scale.
According to sources, Rukmini may have been offered a character that requires strong screen presence, intensity and depth. However, discussions are still underway, and an official confirmation regarding her entry into the film is awaited.
Blending science fiction with action and survival elements, Samuk promises to offer an intriguing cinematic experience. Interestingly, the film marks the reunion of Akshay Kumar and Vipul Amrutlal Shah after nearly 13 years.
