Rs.52 Crore allocated for development of four heliports in Himachal Pradesh: Sudhir Sharma

The Airport Authority of India has allocated a substantial sum of Rs.52 crore for the establishment and development of four heliports across Himachal Pradesh, under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) UDAN 5.1. This initiative aims to enhance connectivity and promote tourism within the state. Notably, two of these heliports are to be situated in the Kangra district, as revealed by senior Congress leader and Dharamsala MLA, Sudhir Sharma, in a press note issued today.

Dharamshala, February 22, 2024: The Airport Authority of India has allocated a substantial sum of Rs.52 crore for the establishment and development of four heliports across Himachal Pradesh, under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) UDAN 5.1. This initiative aims to enhance connectivity and promote tourism within the state. Notably, two of these heliports are to be situated in the Kangra district, as revealed by senior Congress leader and Dharamsala MLA, Sudhir Sharma, in a press note issued today.
 

In a communication from Atulya Agrawal, General Manager (RCS) of AAI, to the Principal Secretary (Tourism & Civil Aviation) of the Himachal Pradesh Government, it was specified that Reckong Peo, Chamba, Palampur (Un), and Rakkar in Dharamshala are the chosen sites for these heliports, with each allocated a budget of 13 crore rupees. This funding is designated for land acquisition and subsequent development activities.
 

Sharma emphasized the crucial role of the Himachal Pradesh State Government in the execution of this project, including the construction of Passenger Terminal Buildings and the provision of other necessary amenities at these heliports.
 

The development and operationalization of these heliports are expected to significantly boost tourism in the region, making it more accessible to visitors and enhancing the local economy. This investment reflects a strategic move to leverage the state's picturesque landscapes and cultural heritage, attracting more tourists to explore its serene beauty and diverse offerings.
